Pretty sure everyone must have eaten spring rolls in their life. We all love how the vegetable stuffing are nicely wrap with a crispy spring rolls wrapper coated with some spicy sauce but have you ever try the sweet savoury spring rolls?

This Facebook user has shared with us how to make a perfect Popia Sira or Sweet Savory Spring Rolls. His recipe on Facebook has garnered over 1.1K likes and 1.3K shares as many were excited to try it at home!

▼ Sweet savoury spring rolls

Ingredients for the filling:

  • Cabbage
  • Jicama
  • Carrot
  • Bean sprout (optional)

Mix all the ingredient together. Put the filling onto the spring rolls, wrap it and fried.

※ Crispy spring roll tips:

  • Wrap the spring rolls tightly.
  • Make sure the oil is really hot and fry with slow fire.

For the sweet savoury sauce

▼Heat the oil, add 9 tablespoons of ground chili and stir.

▼Add 10 tablespoons of sugar

▼Add 2 tablespoons of chili sauce

▼Add half a tablespoon of salt

Once the sauce is cooked and thicken, you can sprinkle some sesame seeds

This is perfect for snack as it is very crispy, in a bitesize and do not have any filling.

All you need is 1 pack of spring rolls wrapper (50 pieces). Then you roll it each of it and cut it into bite size. Then you can fried until it is golden brown.

To make the sweet spicy sauce, you will need these ingredients.

  • 5 tablespoon of ground chili
  • 6 tablespoon of Thai chili sauce
  • 5 tablespoon of oil
  • 6 tablespoon of sugar
  • Curry leaves (optional)
  • Sesame seed (optional)

Mix all those ingredients on low fire until it becomes bubbly.

Put in the fried spring rolls wrapper and mix well.
