A Teacher is responsible for preparing lesson plans and educating students at all levels. Their duties include assigning homework, grading tests, and documenting progress. But i never heard that they are responsible to wake the student up for class? And it’s the teacher’s fault that their student couldn’t wake up for class?!
Recently, some WhatsApp text conversation was exposed online. It’s regarding a parent that blamed the teacher for not waking her daughter up, so she missed her online class. The parent insisted, “I paid the school fees, it’s the school responsibility to ensure my daughter attended the class. Or else, why pay you?”

Parent：「Why you never wake your student up for the online class? Why i’m paying you the school fees? Do you realised i’m paying the school fees.」
Teacher：「Hi Parent, may i know is you kid having problem waking up for class?」
Parent：「I asked my kid, she said she just couldn’t wake up. Is it me the one suppose to wake her up, then i don’t need to pay the school fees is it?」
Teacher：「Sorry parent. As critical moments like this we will need students to learn from home. Thus, it’s hard for teacher to guide them by their side. What a teacher can do is guide them via phone or in the online class. So the students need to have self-discipline. 」

Teacher：「Sorry parent, i know you are busy. But i believed you also realised your daughter have problem waking up to attend class. But now, your kid is not staying in a hostel. We ( teacher) couldn’t be there to wake her up. So, if they are at home, they need to have self-discipline. Of course i’m not pushing the responsibility to you. But from our conversation, i found your daughter have problem waking up.」
Teacher：「Therefore, i hope you can advise your kid. But, of course i will take note too, checking her attendance and help waking her up.」

Parent：「Now i hired someone ( staff) , and the staff couldn’t help the boss to solve the problem. Moreover, avoiding the problem. 」
Other parents who was also the chat group couldn’t stand this parent and voiced out too：「 The teacher is not your staff OK!!! The one paying them is the school! You are paying for your kid’s educational fees! If paying school fees is so hard for you then send your kid to China! RM 300 including everything. You don’t feel shamed saying you are the boss??」

Teacher：「If you have any dissatisfaction, i will suggest you to contact the school directly. As our job is educating them, pass on the knowledge they need but not their nanny, thanks!」
Parent：「Please refund. I don’t need a staff that not doing their job.」
