Dalgona Coffee also known as “quarantine” coffee, the beverage—essentially a glass of milk (or dairy alternative) topped with a creamy blend of instant coffee, sugar and hot water—became a popular trend on social media.
But it’s so simple, so everyone actually can try to make one at home!
South Korean actor Jung Il-woo who made the Dalgona Coffee a social media star in 2020 after trying it in Macau as part of “Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant” show. Under the hashtag #dalgonacoffeechallenge, homemade versions began bubbling to surface on South Korean YouTube channels and spilling over to TikTok.
And a lot of Korean artistes also uploaded video in social media trying out making the Dalgona coffee!
The dalgona coffee, some called it 「400 Times Coffee」. Beside looking good, another reason is taste! The coffee tastes bitter, sweet and creamy at the same time, and cold milk and ice add freshness to it. It’s just something you don’t want to miss!
▼ So let’s get started!
Step 1： we need 5 tablespoons ( tbs) of instant coffee powder
Step 2：Add another 5 to 6 tbs of sugar
Step 3：Add 5 tbs of hot water ( the ratio of the ingredient should be 1:1:1 )
Step 4：Whip, by hand or with a mixer. If you choose to do this manually, you’d have to mix the mixture at least 400 times. It will be tiring, but think of it as a good workout for your arm.
Step 5：Continue whipping until you see the mixture turning from foamy to frothy to creamy.
Step 6：Pour milk in a glass ( you can also add in some ice).
Step 7：Spoon the creamy mixture on top of the milk.
Step 8：Voila! Now you have a beautiful and tasty cup of Dalgona Coffee.
