We are in the 3rd weeks of FMCO, but we are still recorded close to 5,000 cases a day. Thus, citizens are urged to stay home as much as possible in order to flatten the curve. A lot of us choose to shop online instead of heading out. Which also means the deliverymen in the courier company will have heavier workload.

A netizen Cheng took social media to share a heart-wrenching post, where he received a phone call that his parcel was delivered at night. Not even have time for dinner, the deliveryman was seen sitting at the corner munching his bread before the next delivery.

His post read:

It’s 9pm at night, and i received a call from a deliveryman that my parcel was arrived.

I took a lift to the Condominium lobby, the dedicated place where management said we can received our parcel. But, no one was there. Then my phone rang again, he was telling me that he was sitting at the corner.

He waved to me when i looked around. First, he apologised for the delay as his motorcycle broke down. I smiled and said,” It’s OK, thank you for your services”

After collected my parcel, i walked to the lift. When i looked back. He was sitting at the corner munching his bread while calling other receivers to collect their parcels.

This is the most beautiful scene! People who are self-reliant and hardworking worth the respect.

▼ Heart-wrenching! Life for deliverymen is tough! One said, actually they are ready at 6-7am but during FMCO, we are only allowed to start work at 8am so what to do? they have to finish work late.

▼ For us, the deliverymen are also the frontliners. It’s one of the important sector that contributing to the society. They are outdoors delivering items to our homes and putting themselves at a higher risk so we don’t have to go out.

One used to work in JNT said,” To delivery the parcels is our responsibility. If the parcels given is not delivered we will not been getting paid that particular day. Some job are really tough, especially those with guard house that need to call the owner one by one. By just waiting for the guard house to call sometimes took an hour. And some customers are very slow in picking up the parcel. Thus, sometimes we will be late in delivery.”

One said he knew someone with terrible attitude threw the access card to the deliverymen and ask them to send the parcel up by telling them,” You get paid to send the parcel, so you have to send to my doorstep.”

▼ ” If everyone can go down and pick up their own parcel as soon as the deliverymen called then they won’t finished their work late. Don’t trouble them! Because you paid the delivery cost not tips for the deliverymen”

▼ Some said we should appreciate and thanked them with our own way, one netizen will prepare them some sugar cane drinks for them . While another netizen will have a tips and thank you note for all the deliverymen as a token of appreciation.

▼ To all the delivery Abang, big THANK YOU for what you are contributing as we face this pandemic. Thanks for all the hard work!
