A 4-year-old boy’s godmother, Nur took social media to share his godson’s health condition, hoping to create more awareness on MIS-C in children.
Her post read:
Muhd Ali Zafir Bin Mohd Azmi is my godson who is only 4. He is in ICU diagnosed with Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). It’s not a new variant but it’s a post-Covid that affected children. The reason I’m sharing his storyline because I want all the parents out there to be aware of the illness. You wouldn’t want your child to go through what my lil fighter is going through. If your child an ex-Covid patient, please monitor them and look after them.
He was a Covid-positive on the 25th September 2021. He was isolated for good 10 days. He was fully recover on the 4th October 2021. He was up running and do lots of active activities 🙂 He went to school as a happy cheerful child. His routine in the morning go to school afternoon back at home. No outdoor activities at all. He was at home with his siblings at all time. But, he was down with fever end of October 2021…
1st November 2021 – everything begin. He was brought to KKH ( Hospital in Singapore) due to his fever didn’t subside and was high. He was given medicine to help to subside his fever & blood test was taken to further the investigation of the cause. After hours of waiting, his blood test result came back. He has infection in his blood. Doctor said that needed to be admitted to allow the team to do further investigations. Later in the afternoon, he was complaining about his tummy. He was then brought to a private room to be check thoroughly. Everything went very fast, suddenly his body was full of cables and stickers. They check his BP and vitals, here is the moment where his body been poke here and there.
They were trying to locate the veins. However, he has a very fine veins hence the difficulties. He was given antibiotics and other drip due to he can’t have any intake of food at the moment. All lasted for 45 minutes still couldn’t find the right vein to insert the drips. He was allowed to rest for 10 minutes and the poking continue again 😢 Finally, found one on his right foot. There is where the antibiotic as going to be.
However, his body started to swell due to the antibiotics. The other drip went to his wrist. He was sent to do his X-ray. After X-ray, he was transferred to HDW. This is where he was monitored closely by the doctors and nurses. There were 10 doctors and 15 nurses attended to him 😢 Everything look so surreal. Later in the day, he was transferred to ICU because of his BP is low and another tube to be added near his heart 😢 He will be sedated so that the process will goes smoothly 😇
2nd November 2021 – he was diagnosed with Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). Due to inflammation in his body, part of his body is swollen. His lip and eyes swollen, rashes occurred and his heart too. He needed to do blood transfusion to help him to recover. However, there are pros and cons of this process. Due to his body is swollen, the blood transfusion was differed. They are doing liquid intake instead. Here we go again to locate another vein. Found one in between his thigh, the is where this liquid intake going to be 😢
The team will have to sedated him as this process may cause him losing blood. His needed oxygen tube to help him to breath better as his oxygen is dropping. His case is rare and very special at the moment. He was given steroid due to his inflammation is acting against the medicine. His BP, heart rate and oxygen was dropping 😭 The curtain was close for three hours, God knows what is happening behind that curtain. He was given VCG jab, insert catheter tube, additional tube in between his thigh 😢 Two hours later, his red eyes and swollen mouth subsided. Alhamdulillah 🤲🏻
3rd November 2021 – He was sleeping the entire night 😇 His body are full of rashes 😢 However, over the night his vitals weren’t good. His temperature rise up to over 38 degree. His heart rate is very fast. His BP is slightly over the range. His oxygen is below the minimum. Masyallah.. 😢 The doctors and nurses monitoring him very closely. He needed more support in breathing. His heart is swollen and fluid started going in. His intestine is swollen too. Due to all the inflammation his tummy might be bloated. His lung have some gas.
The team is discussing with the surgeon if he needed the surgery 😢 The doctors and nurses are doing their best 😇 At this very moment, his body are not responding with the medicine thus inflammation is getting worst. His organs are supported with all the medications which helped him to hold up. He was given the oxygen mask to help him to breath better and lung function well. He was on 8 medications as of today. Injection was given to prevent blood clog. His fever increased to 39.7 degree 😭
4th November 2021 – the doctor injected him a medicine to suppressed the inflammation as it is too active. We were told the medication that his needed to repeat for few cycle till he recover is too expensive. However, we are doing our very best to make sure his gets the best treatment and fully recover soon. He is being monitored closely and still sedated. This to allow him to rest well and don’t feel the pain too much. His fever has subside 🙏🏼 Alhmdulillah. He was intubated at 1am 😭 Behind the close door, only screaming and crying could be heard. Can’t do much and felt hopeless. More tubes added on to him. Tube through his nose and mouth were added. He is now on 12 medications treatments. Masyallah 🤲🏻
5th November 2021 – he is transferred from ICU to a private room 5. They are putting him on a new medication. He is assigned to one nurse who will be there at all time to monitor him. He is immunosuppressants. Which means when patient is on this, his immune system can be weaker and thus it’s best to avoid any contact or minimise contact. May everything goes smoothly for my lil fighter 💪🏼 He heard nenek and atok voice message, he made a lil gesture. Alhamdulillah 🤲🏻
6th November 2021 – Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Allah listened to all our doa. He is awake and still not 100% yet. All his medicines was brought down the dosage slowly. Doctor would like him to not sleep too long. He started to breath on his own. Once he is able to breath properly without the support, his tube in his mouth will be remove. He is still in critical stage at the moment. He can even give the nurse high-5 and raise his hand higher. Alhamdulillah. My lil fighter is very strong 💪🏼 He can even smile despite having the most uncomfortable tube in his mouth 😢
7th November 2021 – Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Allah listens to all our prayers & doa’. His very first tube on his foot is out today. The most uncomfortable tube which is on his mouth is remove too. Masyallah, So blessed and pleased with his progression. First thing he ask for was food. He wants food because he is hungry. Ya Allah, been 6 days no food intake. Doctor is giving him milk first as he needs to start with liquid first before the solid. What makes us more happier is he is sitting up in his bed and watching videos. Which I am sure that is what he missed for the last 6 days.
Guess what? Even his catheter & nasal oxygen tube are removed too. On the rainy day, with all the prayers and doa’ from everyone, we are receiving one news after another. Later in the evening, he was give a bottle of milk for him to enjoy some liquid intake to fill his tummy. Seeing him drinking the milk from the bottle is just so mesmerising. We miss seeing him drinking milk from the bottle. Can you imagine seeing your love ones lying in bed with tubes here and there attach to their body. Only tears accompanied us at that very moment. But today, we an amazing doctors and nurses who have done a brilliant job taking care of my lil fighter.
Ali is now, nearly free from all the tubes in his body. It’s night time, go and have a rest my love. See you tomorrow love ❤️ He is our real fighter who never fail or give up during the battle. He always want to protect the world and his love ones too. He is brought all his weapons from Call Of Duty to fight all the germs and bacteria. Nevertheless, Please Pray for Muhd Ali Zafir Bin Mohd Azmi.
