Although many people questioning ” Why will still someone believing in this kind of scam?” But, criminal minds just never stop there, there are many more new scam tactics out there. Not only seniors, but millennials are vulnerable to online scam too.
A Malaysian girl took the courage to share her story, although she knew she might be bashed by the netizens. But, she is just hoping to create more awareness, so no one will fall into the trap again.
Her post read:
First time in my life, i make a police report and lectured by the policemen. I felt like experienced everything in my life of 23 years overnight.
I was scammed. I’m not sure the amount consider big or small. But, it’s definitely all my hard earn money. I decided to share my experience as i hope no one will fall into the trap again.
On the first day of 2022, i saw a Facebook post hiring Personal assistant (PA) with the condition you will only need work from home. I was thinking maybe i can work on a part-time for extra cash. Because it’s written only 2-3 hours a day. I have posted the Facebook sponsored post too! Please take note! Actually it’s been posted by different individual or company. Too bad, i only found out when i realised i was cheated.
(The hiring post written : Hiring PA work from home with the following criteria — 21 years old above, Monthly pay RM 3-7k, must have a mobile phone understand Chinese, willing to learn, no upfront, deposit or membership needed, 2-3 hours per day.)
I clicked on the link after reading the post, it was a WhatsApp link, following by enquiring more on the hiring post.
I was thinking to try, then i downloaded their App. There was a person in charge( PIC) to guide me through on the App. The App is with a system helping you to take order and complete the order. You will need to continue doing that until 60 orders then you will be able to cash out. Then the PIC placed another account under me, i will be able to log in to the account for the operation and that particular account will have commission too.
The WhatsApp text read :
Me : I’m keen with the PA job.
Scammer : Hi, do you have experience in e-commerce? we will consider those with e-commerce experience. I will share with you the job scope first
Me: OK
Scammer : Log in to my account, click taking orders automatically then complete the order. Continue doing that until 60 orders. There are 2 kind of orders :–1. normal deal 2. bundle deal- normally double of normal deal, it’s a bonus. Commission based on the transacted amount. * 0.6% of the sales*. You can have commission on the account you handled too, which is * 0.1% of the sales* . Roughly about 100-200 a day.
*************************************************************************************
I do not need to fork out any money in the beginning. I continued to take the order until at one point i got a bundle deal. I was asked to fork out money.
Because it’s a bundle deal, double of normal deal, with additional bonus. In the case, your balance is not enough then you will need to top up with your own money to the account number provided by their customer service. I was thinking to give it a try. At first, i transferred RM145 to the account and after 60 orders i was paid with commissions of RM231, i think the pay is quite lucrative.
The WhatsApp text read :
Scammer : You will need to complete 60 orders before 9pm. ( please provide me your bank account, we can’t cash out via Tng)
Me: Ok! only 1 website that i need to work on right?
Scammer : We have our own App. Please help me fill in your personal information including name, gender, wechat account, address, age and current occupation
*************************************************************************************
On the next day, i’m still believing in this platform. I contacted the same PIC and asked him whether the procedure will be still the same, i login to his account help him to complete 60 orders then i will have my own account and commission and continue to take order.
Everything seems to be fine in the beginning. But, bundle deals started coming in. I will need to fork out more and more money .. after a few bundle deals .. the amount is rolling up like a snow ball. To a point reaching my bank limit, all my money was gone.

I knew someone must be thinking : Why so silly? believing in all these non-sense! Aren’t we reading many online scam cases in social media/ newspaper! But i really never thought i will be one of them. Thinking back i think i’m very very silly. Normally i won’t believe in this kind of hiring post, or maybe just tried once.
I regretted what i did, i couldn’t sleep well. How i wish to have a Doraemon time machine travelling back to the time before this incident happen, slapping myself to make me awake and not falling into the trap. But i knew it’s impossible. I can only accept the fact as i never rob or steal, those are my hard earn money. i felt sad but i do not need anyone bashing me or empathy.
Reason being revealing this, so no one will be the next victim. Internet fraud can happen anywhere and anytime. But, please do not criticised me.
When i lodged a police report, i was lectured by one of the policemen. Then, a Chinese policeman comforted me. Hahaha ! It’s quite funny when i recall the memory.
During the incident, i didn’t have a chance to cry. I was just thinking to solve the problem as soon as possible. When the policeman lectured me, i just apologized softly. But, my tears was rolling down my face when the Chinese policeman said, ” All your hard earn money was gone overnight.”
But he ( Chinese policeman) is very nice to me, he told me actually a lot of online fraud cases everyday, trying to distract me from my sadness. I really felt much better after a 3 hours talk.
After this incident, it’s ok that money was gone as i can earn my money back. But those syndicate will eventually face their own karma. God close a door and eventually will open a window for me. Maybe it’s god’s plan avoiding me getting into something else which is even worse.
If you are working part time with this App, please stop immediately.
I wanted to stress again : Online fraud can happen anywhere and anytime, please stay alert all the times! I was in the Police station for 3 hours and seeing so many people in and out, some probably even worse than a fraud. The policemen told me almost everyday there were reports on online fraud. Thus, please talk to your family, friends or lover before any decision made.
To be honest, just within 6 months i felt myself went through a lot and growing a lot too. More independent, and learn to face the problem and solving the problem alone. When you are solving the problem alone, please keep all your negative emotion as those emotion will not help in problem solving.
Lesson learned for me! I believe there is more for me to learn..
Please share this post so your family & friends will be aware of it too! I don’t need a keyboard warrior as i’m poor thing enough .. Haha.. So , next i will need to work hard to earn those money back!
▼ Some netizens also experienced the same, some even lost more than RM100k!
▼ Actually not only this Apps, but some others with similar operation!
▼ Some netizens also shared some Facebook post from the scammer, and reminded everyone to beware of that post too.
▼ Anyone know how many fraud cases the police received everyday? and those didn’t lodge a police report.
▼ All the job that you will need to fork out money is normally a scam, never mind lesson learned.
▼ The reason this girl posting it is to increase public awareness on online fraud. I’m sure she is feeling upset as all her hard earn money was gone. Please stop bashing her and more empathy.
▼ It’s okay! Don’t blame yourself, remember they are professional in cheating. Lesson learned, most importantly, you are healthy and please just work hard.
