Do you have any idea, how much do you need to spend to raise a kid in Malaysia? From the day they was born to their education fees, daily expenses.. everything is about money! I think only those who are parents know how much we need to spend a month.. sigh..

A mother responded to a hater in Facebook on her post that she is spending RM50,000 a year on her children.

The post read:

Hi, everyone! I’m not sure whether you have a kid. I do have 3 kids, spending around RM50,000 for 12 months which average out to be RM4,166 per month.

Nursery + education fees + insurance, 1 kid for at least RM1500. So, it’s close to RM4500 for 3 kids. I probably underestimate the amount as RM50,000 consider very little. ( This is definitely a very reasonable amount, not that i’m asking for more money)

Because the amount, haven’t even include food, daily use items, books and additional fees for their activities. And some ad-hoc spending like seeing doctor when they are ill and supplements to keep them healthy. To add up those will be another amount of money. We might not have enough even with RM100,000 a year.

These are what i give to my children, the reason behind all my hard work. Please don’t obliterate my contribution. And, even i’m giving my children abalone or ginseng, if i manage to do that then it’s my ability.

The hater criticised her, ” What? One year for RM50k? You are feeding your children abalone and ginseng?? RM4k for a month? Those just started to work earning less than RM3k. You are rich!”

▼ Netizen agreed with the post author, to raise 1 kid is not cheap not to say raising 3 kids. Actually RM50k consider minimal already.

▼ Some disagreed with the netizen that criticising her, ” The one that commented must be a naive boy. Me with 1 kid just school fees and insurance already around RM1700. So, just feed them water is it?” , ” This gentlemen is too funny, I have 2 elderly and 1 kid to raise and already paying more than RM4k a month”

I have 4 children, i spend more than RM100k a year including education, insurance, food, medical expenses and activities. We just work hard to give our children the best.

▼ Then i’m rich! I got 6 kids!

▼ Although we staying in sub-urban area. But our day care RM800+ insurance RM200 = RM1000 . At least RM1k!

▼ A single mum also agreed with the post author:

Only those taking care children on their own will understand RM1.5k is just the basic expenses.

1) Day care/nursery/tuition/activities/transportation fees ( Of course, i need to work and can’t just stay home to take care of the children)

2) Not only 3 meals but their clothes, shoes, socks where mostly can last only for 3-5 years ( as they are growing very fast)

3) Although we do not need to pay for school fees but we will still need to pay for the miscellaneous like books, exercise clothing, uniforms.

4) Some beyond our control, like when they are sick, we will need to bring them to see doctor. To keep them healthy, we will need to buy them supplements.

When I divorce I’m only asking for RM1500 /month for the kids but my ex-husband said i’m asking too much.

▼「No matter how tough i will raise the kids, even to spend few hundred thousand a year!」I think this is the unconditional love from the parents!
