Many Asian countries are facing a spike in COVID-19 infections after the widely-celebrated Chinese New Year holidays, as health officials grapple with the highly-transmissible omicron variant and expectations that numbers will continue to rise in coming weeks.
A lot of us went back to hometown celebrating CNY with our family and friends. Thus, getting the COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit to do self-test at home also becoming a new norm to protect ourself and our family. Which self-test kit works the best?
I believe a lot of people infected with COVID-19 during CNY, me and my family too.
30/1：I did a PCR test before going back to hometown.（Negative）
31/1：I have dry & itchy throat on CNY eve.
1/2 – 2/2：I started developing symptoms like fever & sore throat, i was quarantined at home; my family sending me food to my room.
3/2-4/2：only coughing.
5/2：Tested positive in PCR test.
I will not elaborate more on the usage of the test-kit. The following are the brands of test-kits that we used and our reviews on each brands:
1. All Test（China）- Oral fluid
Under the same company with Juscheck，Beright. We did 3 tests and all tested 【Positive】

2. Salixium（Malaysia）- Saliva / Nasal Swab
Not as hard as we thought. The disposable swab is quite fine, just gentlely swab on the nasal cavity for about 2cm. My family tried and they are ok with it. Tested once 【Negative】.

3. Gmate（Korea）- Oral fluid
More pricey as it’s made in Korea. Tested twice 【Negative】

4. LongSee（China）-Oral fluid
good quality, easy to use. Tested twice 【Negative】

5.Wikang（China）- Oral fluid
Tested once【Negative】
6.Wondfo（China）- Oral fluid
We will need to collect oral fluid in a small pouch. To be honest, not so used to this method. Tested once 【Negative】

8. Whistling（China）- Lollipop
This Lollipop test kit is not so user-friendly, you will need to put the tip into your mouth for quite some times to get the result. You will feel like wanted to puke if put in the mouth for a long time. Tested once 【Negative】

9. V-Chek（China）- Lollipop
Same company in Whistling. But this is much better, just put in the mouth for 90s will do. Tested once 【Negative】.
10. Prodetect（Malaysia）- Oral fluid
Under the same company with All Test, except for the packaging, the contents of the test kit are more or less the same. Tested once 【Positive】

31/01 symptoms showed, self-tested positive on 02/02. My experience taught me:
- Covid-19 Self Test Kit – when CT value is too low, the test is not that accurate.
- CT level low is the moment where it’s more infectious.
- I personally think All-Test and Prodetect are more sensitive. But to ease your mind, better do a PCR test. That’s the accurate one!
- You will start feeling a dry and itchy throat, even though your self-test kit show negative. Don’t be too happy. Reason: refer to point 1. ( Don’t think your body is heaty!)
- Very much depend on your immune system. After the booster jab, the disease should be a mild one on you. Most of my family only coughing.
Even you are infected, do not panic! It’s not the end of the world.
▼ The lower the CT value, the higher risk of you transmitting the virus to other people!
▼ The post author also added the Test Kit only managed to detect the virus once virus load reach certain level. But, you will be able to detect the virus even the virus load is little!

Post Author: Actually i saw those post too. But i experienced it myself as only these 2 brands tested positive. I don’t believe it either. Thus i tested 3 times and all tested positive. I think because our CT value is low therefore it’s not detected in other brands.
▼ Netizen B : All Test not so reliable. I normally get Salixium because it’s more accurate with Saliva / Nasal Swab sampling.
Post author : I heard Salixium is accurate and my family tried that too. We found family member with higher CT value tested positive, but i tested negative ( i already infected with COVID-19, but my CT value is low). So far only with All Test test kit all my family members tested positive. Maybe depends on your luck!
Netizen C : My husband tested negative with All Test. Then this morning tested positive with Salixium. He did a RTK later on also tested positive.
Post author : Maybe the virus load is not high enough, so it’s not detectable. It’s only detectable when virus load at certain level.
Netizen D: I think we shouldn’t compare like that~ unless you did the test on the same timing. Even using the same test kit, on morning/afternoon/night the result might be different too.

Post author : Because it’s only detectable when your virus load reach certain level. So once you are infected the symptoms showed maybe few days later and only you will be detected with 2 lines.

Post author: yes PCR is more accurate! I showed my PCR report is to show when is my symptoms showed.

Post author : I did PCR in a clinic for RM180, BP Lab RM240. If you are in KL you can go BP Lab, Glenmarie RM270 ( Urgent). I got the result in an hour.
