A netizen took social media to share a real life story of his friend. His bank savings up to RM28,500 was stolen one off. He screen captured the process and documented it in a video. Hoping that his story will raise some awareness, especially for those who wanted to buy travel package online!
His post read:
You know how the money been transferred? believe it or not, it’s up to you! It’s a real-life story that just happened to a friend of mine.
▼ A Chinese guy who claimed himself worked in a travel industry sending a Telegram link to my friend. Then giving him instruction to click into the link to make a payment for the deposit.
▼ After clicking in the link, my friend was asked to download an Android app.
▼ The key part in the whole process！Grant access to the app to read your SMS and managing your call.
▼ Then following the instructions to complete the payment via the ” payment gateway”. The victim lost 5-figures amount just in a few clicks!
▼ The victim was thinking he was lucky as he got a good deal for his travel package and never thought it will be a trap! He is losing RM28,500 after the horrible experience.

▼ Once you allowed the app to read your SMS then you are gone! The hacker will lead you to a fake e-banking landing page so you enter your banking details. And when they can read your SMS then they will be able to read your TAC/OTP.
▼ That’s why .. it’s not the bank’s problem.
