The longer you stay in a company, you will have more leave entitlement. This is a basic benefit from the company. The employees who are absent from work due to sickness can apply sick leave. But, can you believe someone that never took a day of sick leave for 32 years, even he is sick!
According to SinChew Daily, Kamaldin Mohd Abdullah who is now 71-year-old, working as General Assistant in TNB before his retirement. During his 34 years of employment in TNB he never took a day of MC. Reason being: He is passionate in his job and committed to the company.
He started to work at the age of 22. From a cleaner to account assistant, to a lorry driver. He never took MC before.
He told 《Kosmo》in an interview, no matter his motorcycle broke down or fever, cough, headache and any other sickness. He never took a day off. 「Even accident happened due to work.」
Kamaldin retired on August 2007, for about 15 years. He told media outlet that reason being for not taking a day of MC is because he need to earn money to shoulder the expenses of the family. Most importantly is the passionate in him towards his job.「The spirit of working hard is always in my heart.」
Every year during the Merdeka month, the fondest memory of working with the company flashing back. Although he didn’t had any celebration for this record of not taking any MC. But he was thankful as he received a certificate of appreciation from TNB.
「Looking at the people nowadays （no matter employee from private sector or government servant）, as long as they not feeling well or sick, they will just apply leave. Even raining or tyre punctured they will apply leave too. People nowadays are too pampered.」
「Especially youngster, you must be passionate and responsible to your job. But not simply taking leave for small matter. Which may create unnecessary inconvenience to other colleagues. If you want improvement, you should stop being lazy. 」

If you are sick but still insisted to work, what if you spreading the virus to your colleague or fainted in the work place. Isn’t it troubling your workmate too? If you are truly sick then you boss will get someone to take over your job? tell me who losses out?”
