It’s ok that you do not have any certification in University, as long as you are hard working. I believe you will get what you deserve! Just like this 24-year-old girl do, she is learning video editing by herself and earning RM20,000 a month after a year of hard work!
The post read:
Freelance Video Editor
- Experience:1 year
- 24-year-old, Female, Mix / From Sabah
- Education level:SPM
- Salary:RM20,000 / Month
I came from a lower class family, so i couldn’t afford to continue my studies. went straight to work so i can take care of my family. I’ve work as a cabin crew before for both low cost and national airlines.
Decided to left before there were more cons and pros. During Covid 2021 i started learning video editing while stuck at home. After 1 year i earn more than i ever thought i could make, it really changed my mindset around money.
Pros of working in this industry:
- WFH ( Work from home)
- Unlimited time off
- Get paid in USD
- You are your own boss
- Great for introverts
- Work more hours get more money
Cons:
- No EPF, no SOCSO and no health insurance
- Work following US times 9:30pm to 5:30am(Not really a con for me personally)
- No paid leave
IMO, the good outweighs the bad, can always build your savings account. Many opportunities for other to join. Just have to know where to look.
I started learning during January 2021. Downloaded Adobe Premiere Pro and learned everything i know from Youtube, very high learning curve. It takes time but Youtube has everything you need to know.
At first, i built relationship with people in online marketing groups on FB. started working with more people and more connection were made. Now i don’t have to look for clients, clients look for me. Building connections and relationships is more important than knowing any skill.
Most of the time, they pay me through Wise. I don’t like Paypal interest rate been too high.
▼ Influencer Ah Lee also commented: I learned everything by myself too. A lot of people asking me how to do, actually you just need to learn online. But some people just too lazy to learn and hoping with 1 click i will teach them everything. If i’m not teaching them they will said i’m cocky. Speechless~
▼ Netizen: Certification is not to showing off but a tool for living.
Netizen: To those who think Certification is not important. Then no need to further your studies, no one is forcing you. Just don’t blame anyone next time.
▼ This is why it’s hard to hire someone as freelance is everywhere. Those willing to learn will just be a freelancer. Probably they can just earn the salary offered working on a few jobs. And they can skip the traffic going to work and no flexible time at all.
▼ Vey much depend on one’s luck. Actually a lot of freelancer not living so well. especially graphic designer, photographer and so on. Those who are lucky will have a better life. But those who are unlucky really got nothing.
▼ Although pay seems good, but still editing a video you will need to spend a lot of times and stressful to eye, maybe affected your health. But still hope you are healthy.
