“Terrible environment”, “Lousy services”, “insufficient medical equipments”, These are some of the impressions of Malaysian towards our public healthcare facilities/services. But, that’s maybe few years ago.. As some netizen found our healthcare facilities are improving.
Recently, a Malay netizen took social media to share her real-life experience giving birth in government hospital. The bill staying in the ward and including all the medical expenses, meals for only RM16!
She mentioned in her tweet that : 「My due date is July 20. But, my baby can’t wait to meet and celebrate Hari Raya Haji with us. So he was born on July 8.」
She had more amniotic fluid compared to the last pregnancy, which will be risky to her delivery. Therefore she decided to transfer from private clinic to Serdang government hospital.
She then talked about her delivery process : 「On Friday morning, i felt the contraction and started to have bleeding. I was checking the situation with the nurse and she advised me to go government hospital immediately. So happened the doctor who always did the regular checking for me was on duty. The moment he checked for me, my cervix already dilated 5cm. Then they send me to the labour room. But the best is my husband can come along in the labour room .」
She was surprised as Serdang hospital operated like a private hospital where husband can be by your side when you are giving birth!
「 On the same night 7:19pm. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy. The wards were quite full i was arranged to stay in a 4-bedded room, 3rd class ward. But the environment was good, very comfortable!」
The netizen is satisfied with the services from our government hospital!
「 I have a chance to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. I discharged on the next day. During this period of time, i met a few specialists. All of the medical staff in labour room is female. The ward is cosy and nurses are friendly. And i never thought the bill is only RM16! 」
▼ The post author also shared her medical bill where the total should be RM3,397 but after the government subsidy, she will need to pay only RM16!

Netizen: Compare with those days now more Chinese no matter, youngster or elderly will prefer going to government hospital. In fact, our government did take care of our benefit. Services in government hospital in other country is much more expensive.

After giving birth, the nurse will go to your house for a regular check including jaundice. Comparing to some other country, a lot of medical malpractice. So, we should pay respect to the medical officers.
