A Maths question for children has gone viral in social media garnered up to 1.4 million views. It’s puzzling as it seems like more than 1 valid answer.
The Twitter user @yawdmontweet from Jamaica wrote in the caption that the question “hurt his head”.
The question read: ” What is the closest time to midnight?”
The options provided as potential answers will be : A. 11.55am, B. 12.06am, C. 11.50am, and D. 12.03am.
And Twitter users appeared to have been thrown off by the question, and commented with different answers.
▼ Some thought the answer should be D because it’s just 3 minutes away from Midnight. However, Some thought 12.03am is closest after midnight but not to midnight as time moves forward.
▼ With that logic, the correct answer should be A as 11.55am is 12 hours and 5 minutes to midnight. 12.03am would be 23 hours and 57 minutes to midnight, and thus the furthest.
▼ “We can’t go back in time”
▼ A commenter said the question was confusing because of how it was worded. There was no indication of “which midnight” the question was referring to.
▼ One Twitter user asked artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT: The answer is D.
▼ While the Snapchat AI said the answer is B.
