Frying Egg Without A Stove ?! No Problem! We Just Need A Hot Sun

A popular video trend has been circulating in social media showing netizen in Yogyakarta frying egg under the extremely hot sun.

According to Sinar Harian, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency of Indonesia (BMKG) said Indonesia will  experience maybe  39 °C or more till the end of October.

Diprediksi BMKG wilayah Pulau Jawa, Bali, Nusa Tenggara Barat hingga Nusa Tenggara Timur akan mengalami musim tanpa hujan hingga November mendatang. Panas ekstrem ini dirasakan di beberapa wilayah di Pulau Jawa yang tak kunjung hujan, suhu di siang hari bisa mencapai 37 derajat celcius. Suhu ekstrem ini dimanfaatkan salah satu netizen di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta untuk memasak telur di bawah terik sinar matahari. Unggahan video tersebut direkam salah satu netizen Irvan_ml dan diunggah akun merapi_news di Twitter. Dalam video berdurasi 31 detik tersebut, telrihat sebuah penggorengan diletakan di paving di bawah terik sinar matahari, lalu salah satu netizen memecahkan telur tersebut di penggorengan. Karena panas yang ekstrem, telur tersebut matang dan menghasilkan suara layaknya terkena minyak panas di atas kompor. In the video shared on Info Makassar, Netizen placed the frying pan with cooking oil under the hot sun and the egg cooked almost instantly. No joke ! You can even hear the egg sizzled in the pan. But one thing we are not sure , we don’t know whether they preheat the pan.

However, Vice Director of Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Agus Haryono said that it is possible to cook using the sunlight.But, boiling point for water is 100 °C while cooking oil is 170°C to180°C. Thus , theoretically it should take longer time to fully cooked the egg.
