Covid-19 : 2 Indonesian Workers Tested Positive Gone Missing !

Sarawak reported 4 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (Jun 18), including two Indonesian workers who have gone missing.

The 2 workers tested positive while applying for their work permits. Contact tracing and investigation into the source of infection is being carried out. Unfortunately, both workers have disappeared and yet to be located.

“Employers should be on the lookout and inform the police if they come across two foreign workers hiding at their sites,” the committee of state disaster management said in a statement Thursday (Jun 18). While, state Police will be hunting for the Indonesian workers too.

It also advised employers to screen their foreign workers, following several positive cases among foreign workers in recent days.

The two other new cases are both Malaysian.

  • 33-year-old man who took a Covid-19 test to find out his status.
  • 71-year-old woman who was screened for Covid-19 prior to eye surgery.

Number of confirmed cases in Sarawak now stood at 565 with 12 cases still treated in hospital. Recoveries remains at 94.5% of the cases to date.
