Airbnb has become one of the most popular option for travellers. The cost can be lesser than hotel rooms and you can select from a wide range of properties from apartments to suite of rooms or even a castle.
Like any other travellers, Yvonne Lee and her friends also booked a stay with Airbnb while holidaying in Milan, Italy. Unfortunately, her stay in her Airbnb apartment was not a pleasant one.
She shared her horrifying experience of her stay in Milan and urged people to take note if anyone planning for a holiday with Airbnb in Europe.
All their luxury goods, including bags, shoes, and sunglasses which cost up to SGD 15,000 (RM45,000 )were stolen. The door of her apartment had not been forced open which means the burglar had keys to the apartment.
She also mentioned that there were no surveillance cameras around the apartment floor, nor in the lift and apartment lobby, which she felt was fishy.
On the same day of the incident, They made a police report and contacted the host, Flats Collection.
The staff of Flats Collection promised to call back on Nov. 2 regarding the losses and refunds for their stay. However, they have not called back since, as of Nov. 15, when Yvonne shared about the experience on Facebook.
She also took a screenshot of an email reply from Airbnb saying that their ability to offered support is severely limited if they are contacted after they check-out.
Luckily, Yvonne and friends had bought travel insurance, and managed to claims their lost items. But sadly, they won’t be able to make up the time lost and bad memories of their trip.
Just realised the description of Airbnb in app store start with the line ” Unforgettable travel experiences start with Airbnb” Ya! i believe Yvonne and friends will agree with it!
