Today, a netizen took social media to share his wife’s experience of reloading her e-wallet. He told Redchili21 that the wife always pays with an e-wallet as she enjoyed cashless convenience and the amazing rewards for every transaction.

But since yesterday, the e-wallet company with 8.8 mil users and 200k ++ merchants touchpoints probably experienced some technical glitch where money re-loaded to users’ accounts had gone missing somewhere.

His post read:

He said yesterday around 2 pm,  his wife went to purchase milk powder for their kid. Before the payment, she transferred RM300 to her e-wallet. However, she felt strange because normally after the reload, it will land on the app showing the balance in the e-wallet account. But not this time…

After waiting for quite some time, the credit still amounting RM1. First, she called the bank, but the bank confirmed the amount was transferred to the e-wallet account. She was embarrassed at the payment counter and ended up e-transferred the amount with another bank to the merchant.

In the evening, social media was flooded with news of Hacktivist group Anonymous Malaysia has returned to warn the Malaysian government to tighten up its cybersecurity. He was thinking are they related?!

The wife then sends an inquiry via Facebook to Bxxxx, and they replied they are in the midst of solving some technical issue. After contacting their customer service, they told them the problem was solved. She will need to log in to the e-wallet again.

But after she logged in the amount reflected was still RM1. They will still need to follow up on the matter. No updates from Bxxxx yet.

But after he checked their Facebook post, they normally have around 20 comments in a post but not yesterday as they have more than 200 comments with most of them complaining about the same matter, where amount not credited after they reloaded their account.

Let’s check out some of the comments:

This is the second time the netizen’s wife encountered a problem with Bxxxx. The first time she lodged a complaint and not long after she won some Uniqlo vouchers in one of their events. Thus, she thought of giving them a chance and continued using their services. But they are not sure after this incident, will they think the same.

Hence, His advice for everyone, before choosing an e-wallet, please not only considering the perks but as well as the risk of using an e-wallet. Especially when you need to do payment urgently!

The following is what you can do if you encountered the same problem:

  • Check with your bank whether the top-up amount transferred to your e-wallet account.
  • If yes, then you will have 2 options either to wait for the e-wallet service provider to fix the technical issue or requesting a refund.
  • If you opt to wait for an e-wallet service provider to fix the technical issue, all you can do is WAIT patiently.
  • If you want to ask for a refund then you have to contact your e-wallet service provider and the bank via phone call and email by providing the following information – FPX id and Merchant order number in order to refund.
