The COVID-19 seems like getting worst. Week after week, all we’re getting are the increase of number of infected cases and number of death. We are currently at 210,990 cases worldwide, 84,220 recovered while 8,846 reported death.
Follow by Mainland China, Italy is with 35,713 infected cases , Iran 17,361 cases , Spain 13,716 cases , France 9,134 and South Korea 8,565. While Malaysia is with the highest number of infected cases in SEA which is 790 cases so far.
However, Let’s be positive and look on the brighter side of things. Mainland China has reported zero domestic cases! For the first time ever since the outbreak which started in December 2019 – although it was suspected to happen as early as November 2019.
On March 18, the National Health Commission said it’s the first time Hubei province reported zero cases and the 34 new infections are from overseas visitors. The number of deaths has also decreased drastically, from average 150 deaths daily to 8 reported deaths since yesterday.
The commission said 23 new suspected cases had been reported, with the total number of infections now standing at 80,928. A total of 70,420 patients have recovered.
In other countries, lockdown and movement control has taken effect as it doesn’t seem to be looking good especially in Italy which had reported 3,526 cases overnight.
Zhong Nanshan, a leading Chinese epidemiologist, said that without strong intervention the coronavirus would not be eliminated.
“I think many countries should take measures based on the intervention mechanism invented by China. Upstream control is an ancient way but effective,” Zhong said in a press conference on Wednesday.
“I’m not saying China’s way is the only way or the best way. The situation varies from country to country. China has paid a high price on the economy, to earn the health of people. Now the next task is resuming production.”
However, looking at the situation in China, it’s proven that a lockdown or movement control is improving the situation and social distancing curb spreading of the virus.
|Please just adhere to the current action plan by our government so we can eradicate this pandemic and get back to our normal lives.
