Black Panther Spotted, Prowling Around At UiTM Kuala Pilah’s Campus

There are two kinds of people, DC lovers, and Marvel lovers. For Marvel fans, you know the slogan avengers assemble deep in your heart. That is what we say when we saw a black panther roaming around UiTM Kuala Pilah’s campus!

The black panther was spotted by the UITM staff around 7 o’clock after work. The black panther could be seen roaming around for 5 to 10 minutes, probably confused and trying to find a source of food.

The appearance of the Black Panther in public areas shows its dwindling habitat, lack of food resources, and security threats in its roaming areas for these animals. The Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia also noted that people should not become panic and provoke the creature until the authorities resolve this issue.

Hunting, intentional killing for the purpose of owning, trapping, and catching the Black Panther is a serious crime. The perpetrators can be jailed with a fine of up to RM100,000.00. It should also be noted that a black panther is a protected species in the Second Schedule of the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010.

However, this is not the first time a black panther being sighted in the public areas. In 2019, a Black Panther was sighted around a residential area in Dungun, Kuala Terengganu.
