It is believed that angry comments online led the broadcaster to disable the comments section on its YouTube channel.

The immigration department is now looking for the Bangladesh national, named Md Rayhan Kabir, 25 who was featured in the programme.

Authorities had defended the arrests of the illegal immigrants was necessary to uphold the law and stem the spread of the pandemic.

Dr. Kenneth Wong, who work in quarantine and treatment centre, MAEPS Serdang posted on facebook about what he saw and what had actually happened during his service in the centre.

The original post:

Al-Jazeera making false claims (pembohongan/tuduhan tidak wajar) against Malaysia regarding the management and treatment of Illegal immigrants with Covid-19!

I was doing my service in Pusat Kuarantin dan Rawatan Covid-19, MAEPS Serdang for 1 month and 1 week. We treated almost 700-800 Covid-19 Positive illegal immigrants (Pendatang Asing Tanpa Izin/PATI) in our centre.

All the PATIs were treated fairly and well. We respect them as normal human beings. 3 meals per day. Each meal with vegetables, meat and rice. Nice bed with air-cond environment. They were each given free toiletry packs/towels/extra dry food. None of them were mistreated. All were given freedom to perform solat prayers and toilet breaks. When they discharged, all were given free new clothing.

Free swab test which cost around RM300-RM400 for 1 test, 3 meals, clothes and treatment were given without charging them a single cents. All the cost was bear by Malaysia’s government! What more do they want? The claims about mistreatment of illegal immigrants was untrue ( One-sided news).

We stand with Ministry of Health (KKM) and Malaysia for doing their best in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic! 👍🙏
