The Los Angeles-based Malaysian singer, Cheryl K appeared on the Mar 7 episode of American Idol audition brought Lionel Richie to tears with his song ” Endless Love”.
The 24-year-old together with her pet dog, Jimmy Choo were in the audition and she asked if Richie would perform a duet with her. Richie said “YES” and began singing the opening lines followed by Cheryl showing off her vocal.
The performance managed to move Richie and his fellow judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, who praised Koh for her passion and guts.
However, she couldn’t make it to the next round.
Richie then added,”But you’re going to be competing with some very fierce voices and I’m just not in my heart of hearts thinking that you’re properly equipped to go up against some of these voices.”
Despite the rejection, Koh’s spirits have not been dampened. She is proud of herself being daring to try and grateful that she got a chance to sing with her idol.
Richie also took twitter to share her performance and wrote,” You brought tears and wonderful memories to my eyes today on #AmericanIdol @thisischerylk! Glad to have met you and JimmyChoo today”
