Netizens outraged over a hiring ads from a Law firm, looking for suitable candidate for legal assistant with a criteria, “Female Only & Good Looking”? The irony of the situation was the ads dated Mar 8, which is the International women’s day!
A netizen took social media to share the hiring ads he screenshot on Malaysian Bar’s job search platform. He couldn’t believed his eye seeing one of the requirements for legal assistant , ” Female only & good looking”. What?? So, pretty girls only can go??
His post read:
What kind of hiring advertisement is this? One is the requirements: “female only & good looking”
Seriously?
This is to look for legal assistant or sugar baby?
Update: The updated hiring ads was amended with the said “requirement” removed.

The law firm is looking for legal assistant to assist partner in charge in preparing legal documentation for Litigation & Conveyancing cases.
This ads is from a medium sized legal firm with specialize in conveyancing & litigation aspect,
Needless to say, the post went viral garnered more than 800 responses and 900 shares.

The said Law firm was contacted and they admitted the mistakes and published without the partner’s approval. The spoke person told Malay Mail,”We have retracted the advertisement and we regret the mistake. Once again, we offer our apologies.”
Malaysian Bar president Salim Bashir said the purported advertisement does not constitute a disciplinary breach under the Bar’s rules and regulations “as per current rulings”, but denounced the criteria as inappropriate.
“Employers may request prospect employees to have certain professional skills that fit the job and work categories, mainly in professional organisations, but preference to have certain ‘looks’ is not an appropriate requirement.
“It can be construed to deny equal rights, and discriminative in nature, to advertise for job recruitments based on one’s appearances,” he said when contacted.
