Update: RM10K Fine Is Reduced To RM1.5K, 50% Discount On Fine And The SOP Implementation Enforcement Team

Government has come out with so many new rules to be follow and netizens are getting more confuse. And with the implementation of RM10K fine for violating SOPs, netizen’s ware going more wild as many think that amount is ridiculous.

Taking into account the complaints from netizens, the SOPs are updated to ease the burden of the people. In a latest update by the KKM on their official Twitter account, they are confirming few info that we must know.

First, regarding the implementation of RM10K, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has informed that offenses for failing to wear a face mask, failing to register before entering the premises and no physical distancing will be compounded RM1,500 out of the maximum value of RM10,000.

However, to those who visit nightclub or pub, the maximum compound of RM10K will still be implemented. As for pub or nightclub operators, they can face a compound with a maximum of RM50K.

Consideration of appeal for reduction of compound value is available for individuals of OKU category, students, B40, and chronically ill.

Secondly, people can now get 50% discount if they pay their fine within a week, and 25% discount if they pay within 14 days. After 14 days period, no discount is offered as stated by Minister at PMO.

The third update is, a new team is made up to make sure the public are still adhere to the Covid19 SOPs. This new team is named, The SOP Implementation Enforcement Team which comprised of police, army, RELA, local authority. Their enforcement will started on this April 1.

Even with the reduced amount of fine, everyone still should not take the SOPs lightly as this is not only about paying fine, this is also about everyone’s safety and health.
