To master a language isn’t easy. You will need to put in a lot of effort and hard work, mostly importantly determination as Rome wasn’t build in a day.

The journey to improve my English language skills.
Just to give you some of my background : I couldn’t even understand questions from teacher when i was in primary school, but i managed to scored A+ and 1A!
My method are as follow:
Method ① : Watch Youtube
It’s the easiest way. Pick the content you like ( Beauty/life/games/travel), but the content must be in English language.
You can turn on the subtitle in the beginning ( If you couldn’t understand, Never mind if you don’t understand, just do not give up and continue the action for months)
When you can understand their usual terms, turn off the subtitle and train yourself on listening. ( If you can’t catch up, no problem and continue the action for months)
I used to watch Aspyn Ovard, Zoella(UK), Kathleen Lights, From Head To Toe. And one day you will find you understand what are they talking about.
Method ②：A notebook to be your Vocabulary book
When you come across any word that you don’t understand. Write down in the book and check dictionary, write down the definition in both English and Chinese ( Or BM). And also the sample of the words ( how to make sentences with the word) . To date, i have 1425 words in my Vocab book. My teacher is 70-year-old now and she still practised the same.
Method ③：Immerse yourself in English language news/article at least once a week
( Try to choose the topic that we come out as the essay topic, like : Pollution, health related) If you come across words you don’t understand, write it in your vocabulary book, and check the dictionary. Find out the meaning in both English and Chinese .
When i went to tuition class, my teacher gave me 30 minutes to read but i have a lot that i don’t understand. I check out the dictionary one by one. By the time, 30 mins was over. I was only at paragraph 2. I can’t fully understand the article in 30 mins and it’s pretty normal. So, please carry on! ( I did the same for 3 years)
Method ④：Reading your Vocabulary book on your free time
The moment you wait for teacher in the class, waiting for friends, waiting for public transport. Any moment when you are free read your Vocabulary book. Somehow, you will remember those vocab if you keep flipping the pages.
Method ⑤：Please keep asking until you understand
When teacher returned our marked essay, i normally will stand next to her to ask what was wrong with those they circled. Until you understand the what was wrong. So, you won’t repeat the same mistake over and over again. Soon you will realised some were common mistake like verb after Plural with a (s).
The above is what i did. In additional: we also play games the losing side must speak English the whole day.
Key point: Determination ! After all, it’s everyday hard work. After 5 years in Secondary school you will realised you can master the language better.
