Highway maintenance workers found a human skull along with a crashed car in a ditch near Batu Pahat, Johor. Police believe the fatal road accident happened around May or June last year and had gone unnoticed until its discovery.
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Ismail Dollah said they received a report from the highway maintenance workers who were cleaning a slope drain on the left side of the North-South Expressway (NSE).
ACP Ismail Dollah said that the skull of the victim was found near a car that was hidden behind the bushes on the slope, that crashed about 67 metres from the highway. He believed that the driver had lost control of the vehicle before it skidded and plunged down the slope.
In the preliminary investigation, it was found that the car’s position was somewhat sheltered behind a slope covered in bushes, which caused the accident had gone unnoticed for so long. Authorities are now working to identify the victim as an Indian male. The victim was reported to be undetected since May last year.
In the meantime, the skull was sent to the Pathology Department of Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) in Johor Bahru for further investigation according to Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
